Luxury Wedding Ceremony Music | ALR Music

The ceremony is the heart of the wedding

It's the moment guests fall silent, the moment you make your vows, the moment the day becomes real. The music you choose sets the emotional tone for everything that follows.

At ALR Music, we specialise in providing world-class musicians for luxury wedding ceremonies - from intimate gatherings of 20 to grand celebrations of 500+. Whether you envision a string quartet playing Vivaldi as guests arrive, a gospel choir accompanying your recessional, or a bespoke acoustic duo that reflects your exact vision and taste, we have the artists and the expertise to make it happen.

The Moments That Matter Most

Within any ceremony, there are musical moments that carry the most emotional weight. Getting these right is everything.

The Processional:
The walk down the aisle. This is the moment guests hold their breath. The music needs to feel as if it was written for this exact moment. We work with every couple to find a piece that reflects their personality, whether that's Pachelbel's Canon, a string arrangement of a favourite song, or something entirely unexpected.

The Recessional:
The kiss. The exit. Pure joy. The recessional is the emotional release of the ceremony - and it should feel like a celebration. This is the moment to be bold, uplifting, and completely yourselves.

Types of Ceremony Music We Provide:

String Quartets
A string quartet is the classic choice for luxury wedding ceremonies - four musicians creating a rich, harmonious and full sound that works in cathedrals, country houses, under beach canopies, outdoor gardens, and intimate chapels alike. A quartet is our baseline recommendation; for larger venues or a bigger emotional impact, we can scale to an octet or twelve-piece ensemble.

Gospel Choirs
Gospel transforms a ceremony. A choir can re-imagine almost any song - from a hymn to a pop anthem - with enormous emotional power. For couples who want their ceremony to feel like a genuine celebration from the very first note, gospel is extraordinary.

Acoustic Duos & Trios
A vocal and keys duo, or an instrumental trio, creates a warm, personal atmosphere that feels sophisticated without the formality of a string quartet. This is a strong, cost-effective option for couples who want live music with a more relaxed, contemporary feel.

Bespoke Ensembles
Some couples want something entirely their own. We've created everything from a string ensemble with opera trio, to a gospel choir with a DJ. If you can imagine it, we can build it!

The Ceremony Music Timeline:

Prelude (15-20 minutes before the ceremony begins)
Guests arrive to gentle, welcoming music. This sets the tone and creates an atmosphere of anticipation.

Processional
The music shifts to accompany the walk down the aisle. Timing should be seamless, and our on-site co-ordinators make sure of this.

During the Ceremony
Many couples choose a musical interlude during the signing of the register, or a piece that reflects a reading or personal moment.

Recessional
Joyful, uplifting, and symbolising the start of your n ew journey.

Just married!
Music as guests make their way to drinks and photographs.

Choosing Your Ceremony Music

Modern weddings are wonderfully varied - and the music should reflect that. Whether you're planning a traditional church ceremony, a Jewish chuppah, a civil celebration, an interfaith service, or something entirely your own, we work with you to build a music programme that feels authentic to who you are as a couple.

Some questions to consider:

What's the tone of your ceremony?
Formal and classical? Contemporary and relaxed? Deeply traditional or entirely personal? There's no right answer - only what feels right for you.

Are there songs or pieces that carry meaning?
A piece your parents danced to, a song that defined your relationship, a hymn that matters to your family. We can arrange almost anything for strings, gospel, or acoustic instruments - and we're experienced in working with the specific musical traditions and cues that different ceremonies require.

What does your venue require?
A registry office, a country house, a yacht, an outdoor garden - each has different acoustics, different spatial considerations, and sometimes specific requirements around amplification or timing. We advise on what works best in your specific setting.

How many guests?
Larger venues need larger ensembles to fill the space properly. We'll always recommend the right scale for your room.

We work closely with each couple - and where relevant, with their celebrant, rabbi, or officiant - to ensure every musical cue lands exactly as intended. Nothing is left to chance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book ceremony musicians?
For luxury weddings with specific artist requests, we recommend booking 6-12 months in advance. For more flexible arrangements, 3-4 months is usually sufficient.

Can we request songs that aren't traditionally played on classical instruments?
Absolutely. Our musicians regularly arrange contemporary songs - everything from Coldplay to Radiohead to Taylor Swift - for strings or acoustic instruments. We discuss arrangements during your consultation.

What happens if the ceremony is outdoors?
We plan for this. We advise on covered spaces, have backup plans for unpredictable weather, and our musicians are experienced with outdoor performances. We discuss contingencies during the planning process.

Can the same musicians play at the ceremony and the drinks reception?
Yes. Many couples book the same string quartet or acoustic duo for the ceremony and drinks reception, before transitioning to a band or DJ for the evening. We manage this transition seamlessly.
